The Sekdek Podcast offers a distinctive blend of elements - from raw field recordings and intimate, unscripted moments to thoughtful songs and discussions. This multimedia journey captures the spirit of spontaneous artistic expression, primarily through a LO-FI DIY lens and with a commitment to Black Metal’s raw production values. Occasionally, this setup provides an ASMR experience. The podcast navigates a vast landscape of topics and styles, providing a deep, philosophical dive into the artistic process. It not only serves as a historical archive and creative outlet but also revives and analyzes a series of similar, now-defunct works from circa 2012. Ideal for those in art, philosophy, music, and artificial intelligence.

This episode reunites me with my old friend Richard Anderson. Back in 1997, we used to sit around recording podcasts long before I knew what I'd eventually do with these gems. But I recognized they were loaded with fun potential. Richard was a character; our ongoing theme involved him trying to convince me of his elaborate delusions. Despite being a functional schizophrenic, our sessions often involved smoking a lot of weed and diving deep into discussions about mind control—a topic on which Richard was surprisingly prescient, as many of these concepts have since gained public recognition and validation in various forms. His rants, peppered with accurate citations, historical references, and factoids, were like early versions of ChatGPT output. Give him a topic, and he'd deliver a compelling monologue on the spot. Richard, if you're still out there, I miss ya.

Now, an episode offering commentary via an older recording documenting the making of what was once an album called 'Gail Satan'. It is slightly sadder music, mellow doom core type stuff I dub Black Metal, Leonard Cohen. Part movie soundtrack, part dark purge, this is my Tom Waits 'The Black Rider' album. I'd call it a bleak opera def soundtracky. Heavy on the Cronenberg vibes and maybe a bit of early Ronald Bronstein and Markus Mager influence in the sonic weirdness. The initial album idea about a witch monster was scrapped and made into the soundtrack for the Book/Album project called 'Stone Moon Demon', by yours truly. Inspired by the werewolf genre and AI and a historical document of Generative AI imagery and beyond.
Original idea & sic cover art collab with Thee Deletist will show up again somewhere. I'll let you know.

I'm sitting around a fire in the woods and chatting to myself about life; then I offer some general commentary on my album and book project called 'Jittery Lines'. This is one loose and raw episode, ending with an insane noise concert that probably confused the holy hell out of the animal kingdom that night. Being that it was just me and them at like 2am. They must have been wondering where the damn spaceship was, with all that glitchy racket and theremin mayhem. Super intimate and strange vibes in the way only I can do. Spend a rare moment alone in the woods with me and enjoy the fire on that One Night in Bangkok. Even if it was in the PNW.

In today's episode, I delve into the eerie silence that follows a sudden internet outage, inspired by themes from "Leave the World Behind." I explore the profound impacts of losing our digital lifeline in 2024, from anxiety and isolation to unexpected clarity and introspection. My rant meanders through how my life was impacted without connectivity and the philosophical implications of that dependency on technology. This exploration builds to a reflective crescendo and ends doomily. Closing the episode, I present an alt demo track from an upcoming album.

In today's episode, we delve into the swirling vortex of emotions surrounding artificial intelligence. As AI weaves itself deeper into the fabric of our lives, it stirs a potent brew of admiration and anxiety. We'll meander through the fears that shadow AI—concerns over privacy, job displacement, and ethical quandaries—contrasting these with the glowing beacon of possibilities and epic greatness. A stream-of-consciousness journey through love and skepticism and a ponderance on AI's dual-edged impact on our future, hoping to shed some light on this complex debate via some mellow, reflective dialogue.

In this unique call-back episode of Rooney's Lodgecast, I journey back to a serene night in 2012 when a scheduling mishap left me alone with just my thoughts and a piano. What unfolded was an impromptu blend of introspective dialogue and soothing piano melodies, capturing raw, unscripted moments of creative solitude. Reflect on this intimate evening as it mirrors my current path, reconnecting with podcasting and picking up where I left off. A perfect prelude to what is now Sekdek Podcast.
